Description

When the full moon shines bright there's magic in the air, and all the animals come out to play. Stay up late with flying cows, jazzy cats, laughing dogs, runaway crockery, farting sandwiches and dancing sausages as we jump and jive to the music in a brilliant new take on the classic nursery rhyme. Ever wondered how a cow jumped over the moon? Or why the dish ran away with the spoon? With original music, brilliant puppetry and lots of laughter, this new show is a wild and musical celebration of nonsense. From acclaimed company Goblin.

We went to see Hey Diddle Diddle with my four year old daughter and her seven year old cousin and all five of us had a great time. There were laughs, dancing, more laughs, really well chosen music, very well done puppetry and two performers who brought a lot of fun in the hour. I was impressed by the way the show worked really well for both the kids and the adults in the group - the script writers and prop designers along with the performers have done a great job here. As the show tells some possible tales for how the cow really did manage to jump over the moon and why the dish may have run away with the spoon, there's storytelling that affirms the importance of nonesense and bending the rules. I left the venue with a smile on my face and a wee bit more lightness in my heart (and my daughter had good things to say about it too). Bravo! Top marks. Five stars from us!

Hey Diddle Diddle is a truly magical show. It is set in the very beautiful, old fashioned Piccolo Tent. The beautiful wooden seats and red velvet curtains added hugely to the ambience.

The show has so many elements to it - music, humour, lighting, fiddle playing, puppetry. This makes the show rather exceptional as it is not often that one show has so much variety. A must-see show. My 5-year-old approached the show saying he thought it would be for babies and said he absolutely loved it afterwards! My 3 year old smiled with wonder for the whole show - it gave us parents such joy just watching him!
