A new world where cheerful totalitarianism is the fashion; where cities promote hilarious mass deportations and funny exterminations; where its leopard-pattern clad locals will do anything to defend their enthusiasm. Welcome to #HappyHour, a psychedelic new play about fascism and happiness! Cristian Ceresoli’s ( ***** (Guardian, Stage, Times)) Scotsman Fringe First-winning play #LaMerda, performed by Stage Award-winner Silvia Gallerano became an international hit following its Edinburgh premiere. He reunites with Gallerano, and its original creative team, alongside Italian acting legend Stefano Cenci, for the British premiere of his new work direct from sell-out seasons in Rome and Copenhagen.

A grotesque story that starts as a simple siblings rivalry but turns eerily dark and surreal. You can read the story with connections to the past, the future, or more uncannily, the present. As within all that fantasy, the story never looses connections to real life, and throws up questions about today’s social, political and digital/show life. It’s shocking and uncomfortable close to real life. The performance is of high calibre, captivating and at high intensity from start to finish. The show still occupies my body and mind hours later ... If you don’t want to stay naive and end up .... : Go! See this masterpiece.

A full hour in a parallel, odd, brutal, aseptic dimension. Gallerano and Cenci are the evil children of a post modern society. The show has a hectic physical rhythm, the actors voices modulate fast and easily; nothing more than two bodies moving in space, following the strength of a forceful script, leading us anywhere with just the power of imagination. And what’s theatre, after all?

A disconscerting rollercoaster of a play that skillfully takes the audience from laughter to unease as it slides from sibling rivalry to distopia. The actors are brilliant at captivating and holding our attention, posing questions that feel too uncomfortably close to home. An extremely well written and thought out play. Go and see it if you can!

This is one of the best shows I've seen at the Fringe. The quality of the acting was superb and I was highly engaged throughout. The show is well written and manages to be both comic and dark. You won't regret seeing this.

Brutal and entertaining from electric, physical theatre storytellers. Script is set in a surreal distopia rooted in current and historic power and cultural structures too close to home. It will leave you breathless and in need of tenderness.DO NOT MISS

Christian Ceresoli’s play offers a challenging depiction of a dystopian society in entropy. The imagery evoked here recalls scenes from the holocaust, the rallies of fascism, the irresistible rise of the far right, all set to a bouncy disco beat. This is a challenging piece in every sense of the word, because the meaning of any given scene isn’t immediately apparent: it needs to be pondered, dissected and above all else, discussed. Both Gallerano and Cenci offer powerful performances, catching the nuances of these weird children with great skill, simultaneously eliciting both our affection and revulsion.

Perhaps the best way to describe Happy Hour is like a kind of late-1970s avant garde fever dream. It’s the tunnel scene in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory stretched to an hour and fifteen minutes. The soundtrack by Stefano Piro alone should be classed as nightmare fuel. It’s completely crazy and perhaps more than a little pretentious.
