Description

A twisted, gothic musical tale inspired by Tim Burton and the Brothers Grimm. Starting with your spooky suggestion, these award-winning improvisers weave a fantastical tale dripping with black comedy, gut-clenchingly playful characters and haunting live music that's different every time. Following sell-out shows across Europe, this new deliciously dark hit marks The Maydays' 14th year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe! 'Fantastic! Improvisational theatre at its best!' ***** (BroadwayBaby.com). 'Certainly worthy of Burton' (Chortle.co.uk). 'Hilarious!' (Colin Mochrie).

Funny and dark and twisted and awesome! Really enjoyed the show today - great relationships, wonderfully supportive music from the piano. Sure to have a good time.

Maydays have demonstrated once again why they are the UK's best Improv Troupe. Accompanied by an exceptional pianist and with spooky lighting the actors created an imaginative, fast moving, macabre scenario which had both hilarious and poignant moments. The Maydays have developed an empathy whereby the audience sees no flat spots of thinking time, just continual forward motion in weaving and resolving the plot. A great deal of energy and stage experience is focused in this one hour performance and, as the plot is based solely on a suggestion from the audience what is created is totally different for each of the 26 days of the Fringe. Very well done Maydays. Highly recommended.

Wonderful. The show I saw was an unexpectedly thought-provoking story about the simultaneous importance and horror of having your inner critic always making you feel terrible about your choices. There were also a satisfying number of gruesome deaths, epic songs, and a particularly inspired performance by Rhiannon Vivian as an inner-critic monster. All-round great!

We loved this wacky show! It is well worth booking. Crazy storylines generated through improvisation and music. A good laugh had by all.

Quite amusing but nothing special . There is a lot of musical improv now so needs to be better. About 3 stars

Improv at its finest! I saw the show yesterday (2 men and 2 women in the cast) and was lucky enough to see a dark and twisted tale about a blood transfusionist get woven before my very eyes - even musical numbers complete with dazzling and impossible harmonies! Their attention to detail and structuring a story is phenomenal for such a complicated and spontaneous show. Great performances, comedy and vocal talent - definitely go and see it!

Really, really good improv. 4 very talented women perform really convincing, imaginitive and witty improvised material based on audience suggestions. Would really recommend this as a safe option for anyone looking for good, funny improv at fringe this year.

The Wee Review (4/5 stars) 42 days ago

Back at the Fringe with their darkly comedic improv wickedness, The Maydays deliver more of what they do best. Featuring on-the-spot thinking at its most twisted and slick, Happily Never After is one of the surest bets for entertainment at the festival. Unlike a lot of improv, which is fuelled...

The Maydays did not let us down with their skills in the comedy department and they were very quick with their ideas.
It is certainly an hour well spent and there is no argument as to the Maydays ability to improvise.
