Description
Two colliding worlds: Italian commedia dell’arte and Eastern traditions with the use of magic, on the international stage. The green bird takes the form of its namesake Commedia and rethinks it into today. The story of two naive siblings, who just arrived in the UK, learning to navigate it in all of its mundane (un)glory. Nightshade Collective brings to Edinburgh a new world of magic where fantastic apples sing, waters dance, statues speak and people can become rich just by throwing one condom. Theatre from the people to the people, to laugh, enjoy, and perhaps even think. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. It is a very pleasant surprise. This is a poetic tale weaved with humour and magic. They remedied a low budget production with creativity and ingenuity. It is full of surprises and they managed to keep you engaged and on your toes throughout the show. Very impressed!

One of the best shows I've seen on the Fringe. Funny, clever, visually stunning and the performers are of great quality! Beautiful storytelling. I was amazed what they can do in what seems like a very small studio. Come and see it. It's beautiful!

this is exactly what you want to see when attending the edinburgh fringe. the show is polished and remarkable while also being incredibly funny, intriguing, critical, and fascinating. from magic to puppetry to commedia de’llarte and physical theatre. there is not a dull moment. both performers are incredibly well trained and have talent beyond measure. truly a delightful and wonderful show that will keep you in anticipation.

What an incredibly captivating performance from Francesca and Daan. Green Bird is the absolute essence of what the Fringe is all about.
This show was intimate and beautifully unique. I’ve never seen a multi-faceted performance quite like it. The light humour laced throughout the show adds a humanness to the shadow puppetry, masks and magic that balance everything perfectly. And of course, portrayed by two wonderful performers and a very talented Devi behind the scenes (whom they were never slow to credit).
This is an absolute must-see for any fringe goers this year. Such good fun all round and truly warming to witness.

Tender and magical, full with images that remind me of been a child at watch theatre for the first time! A mix of different theatre traditions to tell a story filled with cultural references to reflect about social norms and the nonsense most of them create around our lives. Definitely a powerful journey. A must see in this Fringe.

It was an outstanding piece of theatre, it was funny and beautiful at the same time. Definitely worth going 1000/10
