I took my 17yo trans son and recovered anorexic (do those who have been treated for an eating disorder ever truly recover?) who felt the show represented how they have felt / currently feel about body issues - in a way that isn't usually represented in the media/entertainment. In their words "it was nicely unsettling". I was awed by the amount of work that had gone in constructing a narrative that was seamless, coupled by the incredible talent of the two actors. Reviews refer to how the show plugs into the latest Barbie phenomenon, but I also felt that an element of Wes Andreson's Asteriod City was present. I had read great reviews about this show and wasn't disappointed. I would, in fact, pay to see it again.
