Description
How does a person with dementia experience the world? How can we better connect with people in the often challenging environment of aged care? This award-winning experimental theatre piece explores communication, ageing, and identity through the real-life stories of people living with dementia. The play celebrates the rich characters you find in aged care, the wisdom they impart, and the ways in which communities can find creative new forms of communication. The Fish Bowl won the BankSA Award for Best Theatre and Physical Theatre and the Holden Street Theatre Award. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Of the 20 shows I saw, most highly rated, this was the best by a very long way. It may be the only one I will remember in 5 years time. What is humanity when the very humanity is being stripped from you? Humanity is as much how people choose to relate to you as it is what you have or are.

Absolutely beautiful, does an amazing job of capturing the life of the people around dementia and the lovely and not so lovely moments that come with it. Made me and my dad cry. 10/10
Brilliant! Truly Memorable 45 days ago
I'm 15 shows down so far this fringe, and this one is far and away my favourite. I'll remember it for a long time... (I hope)

Yes - I did both laugh and cry like it said I would. Very emotional and clever show - highly recommend. And strong performances by actors who truly inhabit several roles.

This is an incredible and touching window into a world that many of us know, and all of us fear.
See this and be moved. It’s worth your time.
