Description

A priest blesses a bucket of mud in a lawyer's office. A farmer sells a single square metre of his land. A tax collector digs a hole one spoonful at a time. In Field, with her wit and infectious humour, Bridie weaves eccentric encounters she had crossing Irish hinterlands in a quest to secure a patch of land to call home. Yet, amid the laughter and wonder lies a deeper undercurrent, a riveting family history. Her grandfather, who tunnelled his way to freedom from prison. Her grandmother, a spy. Tales of yesterday that change our perception of the ordinary.
