Brightside Comedy 113 days ago

Brought the cast along to this and all of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This musical had expertly-written songs, delightful comedic timing and stardom amongst the cast, alongside an inspiring and relateable story that simply gives you a feel good factor from the get-go. What a show by Joel Goodman and co!

As others have mentioned, a really excellent cast & some very sweet harmonies. A bit like a pared-down version of Title of Show. It seemed to have three or four opening numbers and another four or five closing ones, and not really any middle: the song about the main character's relationship with his wife injected some potentially interesting dramatic tension, but she disappeared immediately, and left us wondering what happened to her, and their marriage?

The cast are all exceptional; the lead has a beautiful voice, and the two-person "ensemble" really sell the show and give it some humour and some heart. It'll be interesting to see what the writer's show at next year's Fringe will be like!

We thoroughly enjoyed this show. Fun, well performed and lovely harmonies.
We also found it really interesting to learn how the writer brought his first show to The Fringe and why in the Q and A session. Would definitely recommend. Will look out for his next musical currently being written ‘Photographer’ next year.

Went to see this wonderful production after speaking to Joel around the Fringe promoting his show. The three cast members are very professional who give the performance their all backed by Joel’s wonderful songs, lyrics and harmonies! A feel good musical and one of my favourite shows this Fringe! Would definitely recommend!

The performers were excellent, both singing and acting wise and kept up great energy, however the writing itself did not quite do them justice as the music and lyrics were a bit tedious and repetitive, and the Q&A session at the end made it feel even more dragged out. Considering this was the author's first show at the Fringe, I am sure their writing will improve as they become more experienced and this show was a good starting point.

Wonderful show.Totally engaging throughout. Talented cast whose vocal harmonies made us want to stay longer. Will be back next year for Joel's next show.

This is a great show. I went because I met the writer on the mile and loved his story and I was not disappointed. The harmonies were excellent and brilliantly executed by the 3 actors/singers. As a previous reviewer said, it was great to have the question and answer session at the end. I can't wait to see what Joel Goodman brings next year.

Such an amazing show. Stunning singing. A good story told well. There was a very good Q&A by the writer at the end. Go and see this show.

Lovely singing voices, great harmonies and some catchy music. Would have liked more in the way of a story line, but the cast were very talented and gelled well together.

There's so much truth in this musical, the challenge of writing rehearsing and producing a show at the Edinburgh Fringe. Huge credit to the creative team for pulling it off! The cast were fabulous, singing their way through the show with energy and vibrant harmonies. What a fantastic first show! 4 stars. Can't wait to see the full length version one day!!

Musical Theatre Review (3/5 stars) 116 days ago

This is a fabulously clear and charming show. I was initially tempted to call it both naïve and ingenuous but actually it is neither. Joel Goodman has written a show about writing a show and getting it on at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe but he has at the same time achieved this often daunting task with great clarity and purpose.
