Description

A lecture with funny bits by financial writer / comedian, Dominic Frisby about the amazing metal that is gold – its history, its fascination, its future. Older than the solar system itself, gold has captivated humans since the Stone Age and driven them to do the most extraordinary things. But does it have any future in this digital age? The Times say Dominic is 'outstanding'. The Telegraph says he’s 'excellent'. The Spectator says he is 'mercurially witty'. Even The Guardian admits he 'can be entertaining'. In the room where Adam Smith completed Wealth of Nations.

I have seen Dominic a few times over the years, each time he offers something different. I have seen a quiz show, stand-up routines and songs.

This time, Dominic shares his rather extensive knowledge of gold - what it's worth, what it's always been worth, and why we might want to keep using it rather than currencies issued by central banks.

Anyone familiar with Dominic's financial blogs will know his style and will recognise it coming through as spoken word. This is a kind of a lecture, but it's lighthearted and accessible even if you don't have any financial inclinations. The mythology of gold is a large part of the show and is interesting in itself.

You can also learn about Adam Smith in the foyer before going in!

I attended this show this afternoon (13th Aug 2023).

Frisby is a walking encyclopaedia on gold.

His talk is informative, illuminating, and for everyone. I stress the last. Whether you're into investing or not, whether you're young or old, whoever you are, whatever your circumstances, this is for you.

I believe that the information Frisby presents affects us all. He gives it in a reflective yet light-hearted way, which is both thoroughly understandable and illuminating.

It's one hour well spent, for the meagre price of £12.

Please go.

If you doubt me, just look him up on the internet.

P.S. His "Flying Frisby" blog is well worth checking out, too.
