Amir Kapoor is happily married and about to land the biggest career promotion of his life – but his success has come at a price. When Amir’s Muslim heritage is brought up at dinner, an intimate gathering hosted by him and his wife, Emily, quickly unravels into something far more damaging. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2013, Ayad Akhtar challenges the audience’s notions of what it means to be a Muslim immigrant in western society. ‘A blistering social drama about the racial prejudices that secretly persist in progressive cultural circles’ (Marilyn Stasio, Variety).
