Description
Will is a popular GP but when a teenage patient kills himself, everything starts to unravel. As he tries to understand whether he’s responsible, his wife Mhairi campaigns for the NHS to reduce waiting times for people with mental health problems. His daughter, about to finish school, continues to keep her clinical depression secret from almost everyone – including her dad. When Will’s best friend Imogen turns up, a chain of events is set in motion that force the family to confront some uncomfortable truths. A darkly funny reflection on our society’s struggle to deal with broken heads. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. The writing and performances were brilliant.
It was interesting to see, and think about, the strains on the NHS from the GP's perspective.

Strong and sensitive performances throughout this incisive, absorbing and gripping new play by Claire Wood, enable us to engage with the whole spectrum of mental illness across all age-groups, with detailed writing exploring these themes .
We are left questioning our own awareness of personal struggles, and of those of others around us and how we can respond more positively to them, as well as recognising the pressures on a failing NHS where time and expertise/ counselling provision is in such short supply, and a workforce itself at risk of burnout .

Did not know what to expect but found this extremely harrowing subject matter tackled so carefully but packed with punch. The performances hit the spot and each gave clear emphasis to the challenges associated to mental well-being and associated challenges. The spectrum of characters spanning generations provided a contemporary backdrop allowing relatability to audience members ( particularly the tarty one
