I don’t know anything about D&D but went along anyway. I didn’t really follow the story/game but it was an enjoyable and funny experience non the less!

This show is a bit of a role of the (20 sided) dice. It is essentially an improv show based on DnD but very much depends on the improv skills of the guest comedians, though the host/dungeon master does his best to boost that. The guest comedians (one of them was just a rogue interloper I think) at the show I went to were mostly ok but only one seemed to understand the assignment.
However I really enjoyed it and would go again, if I could. Some minor audience participation is required and I loved that we could impact the story.

Not a great experience. The format was a panel of three 'comedians' who were guided through a role playing adventure by the host/dungeon master. As a D&D fan I was looking forward to seeing this but unfortunately there was very little to enjoy as the whole thing was derailed by cruel humour and crude jokes. The occasional joke of this kind would have been fine but it just felt very lazy for them to rely exclusively on it. I was called out at one point for not laughing and a rude comment was also aimed at me as I was leaving. Given that D&D is usually a fun and inclusive activity, it feels wrong for the show to be associated with it and I was left feeling very disappointed.

Charming. Felt just like playing a silly game of D&D with my friends.

Gets the balance between free-form comedy and a fantasy game with rules exactly right.
