Description

The cult of Cicada’s Children has just been discovered. Its revered leader, Stanley Cicada, and his beloved children have been arrested and imprisoned. But one remains – Bella. Danny is sweet, naïve and a little bored of his ordinary life. When he meets the bubbly, quirky, unorthodox Bella he is struck by her free-spirited nature. The world is new and a little alarming but Bella knows what to do, all she needs is a perfectly unsuspecting idiot. Come into the minds of Danny and Bella to see if Cicada’s Children is really dead.

One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Powerful and moving while still managing to have moments of genuine humor. Just generally great.

We loved the performance in this show, the actors are strong, particularly Bella whose menacing performance is extremely gripping. The concept is great and the show has real potential. I would have liked to have seen more development to the piece and find out more of what happened and why, rather than repeating the scenes; the audience already knew what Bella had done, so although creepy and entertaining, the repeated scenes felt unnecessary. I felt tension was built really well but I was left wanting to know more about the cult. What was the cults purpose? What did they believe? However the writing addressed how often cults like this prey on vulnerable people who are lonely or who are naive like the protagonist and this was done well. All in all a great performance, with some great concepts and potential. With some workshopping this could soar!

Would totally recommend this show. Very clever script that grips you from start to finish. Takes you on twists and turns right from the start. Well put together and good performance by both actors. A must see.

Loved watching Cicada’s Children. Was absorbed from start to finish and felt strangely connected to both characters. A polished and intelligent production well worth an hour of your time! Plus a great soundtrack too :))

A really enjoyable and interesting show, I loved how it started in a fun, unassuming way then shifted quickly to be much darker. The two actors give excellent performances
