Description

'Pain trumps pleasure. People get flashbacks to horrible shit that happened to them; PTSD. There's no post-pleasure euphoria disorder, is there? I've never caught someone with a massive grin on their face because they remembered an ice cream they had 10 years ago.' Everyone loves Joe Koppell, especially his famous movie, Star Sign Wars. But he is trying to keep a low profile on a sleeper train north. However, when an old friend heading to her father’s funeral crashes his carriage, the journey leads them to examine their deepest convictions of what it means to be alive.

I've been following Michael Matar for a while now and he just keeps going from strength to strength. His writing and performance in this production are certainly his best to date. Opposite an actor of Olivia Ross's talent makes for an electric dynamic between the pair. Overall a really well polished production. Can't wait to see more!

Great performances in a moving, thought provoking play. As others have said, what the Fringe is all about.

Wow. I watched the Caledonian sleeper a few nights ago and it was incredible! It was raw, sad, funny all at once. The script the performance the story everything was so well done and beautiful to watch. It was so sad but also so funny and so dark but so heart harming as well. It was really clever and really captivating I genuinely loved it and would recommend it to everyone, but be mindful of triggers as it does cover some quite tricky and painful things that human beings experience but in such a beautiful and thought provoking way. Really well done to all involved.

New writing is always a challenge that Michael Matar embraces beautifully with his "Caledonian Sleeper".
The chemistry between the actors make everything believable and touching.
Olivia Millar-Ross delivers a nuanced and moving performance and Michael Matar is on a continuous emotional journey that brings the audience into the story.

Great acting, smart production and editing, nice setting. Must watch play! Bravo!

5 Stars! Couldn't find a fault within it. Really enjoyed the simple set, which was both very authentic, but not distracting. Great pace and story and it really built tension nicely to the climactic moment. Definitely worth a watch!

I enjoyed this short film from start to finish. Clearly the writer has an appreciation of emotional, thought provoking topics and is able to telegraph these real life issues in a witty, but nonetheless, meaningful way. Bravo!

What a wonderfully emotional story! I laughed, teared up, and was engaged right through. Well written and directed and a great performance by the cast, all wrapped up in some simple but effective production value. This show is what the fringe is all about.

5/5. If the fringe is anything like the Champions League, this play is Chelsea FC.. a winner.
Congratulations to the cast and creator.
