Description
What do Shakespeare, Beethoven and Jerry Lee Lewis have in common? Edinburgh-based musician/songwriter Richard Lewis unites all three, along with many other diverse musicians, in a witty, light-hearted, Shakespearean-themed entertainment, perfect for a late night wind-down. Originally conceived as a musical diversion for last year’s Edinburgh Fringe production of Hamlet with Ian McKellen, enthusiastic audience reactions – including a standing ovation from Sir Ian himself! – has resulted in its 2023 return as a stand-alone show. ‘I bet Elton [John] wishes he could play piano as well as Richard Lewis’ ***** (GetYourCoatsOn.com).Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. This was a great end to the evening with a highly talented trio. Loved every second of it. The time flew by , I only wish it lasted a bit longer....

This was a last minute addition to our schedule and we enjoyed it. It is very clever and beautifully performed. The musicality and piano skills of Richard are top notch and the vocals provided by his two supporting ladies were really good. We even learned a few things and the Beethoven megamix was a lot of fun. Even though we did not agree with the choice for the best Shakespeare based musical (I mean 'kiss me Kate' is the best one ofc!) we had a fun night :-)

I really enjoyed this. Richard is charming and engaging. Smart original lyrics, sweet backing vocals and immense piano playing. Sometimes silly, sometimes serious, sometimes corny, sometimes clever. Who knew songs from Pulp to Bernstein had Shakespearean connections - albeit deliberately tenuous? A great way to round off a day on the fringe.
