Pete wants to keep The Burnt Part a shrine. Jake just wants to provide for his family. Ten years after a tragic mining accident robbed most of the town's children of their fathers, Pickaway Coal announce that they’re reopening the mines. Armed with a backpack full of dynamite, Pete sets out to prevent another tragedy, and Jake sets out to stop him. The show follows the lives of a group of teenagers in the heart of West Virginia's coal country in 1962, with a stunning bluegrass infused score by Miller and Tysen.
