Description

Hungover, perhaps, but not yet hung out to dry, Robert Burns awakes in Auld Reekie 2019 sharing his thoughts, poems and songs, casting a satiric eye around his Scotland and ours. Well suppered and well scuppered, Rabbie reveals what it’s like to be transmogrified into a couthy wee household god. With nae moose aboot the hoose he wants to set the record straight and maybe tell us a few home truths along the way. Will Creative Scotland give him a grant? And who’ll give him that shave he badly needs? 'Should be banned!' (Hanoverian Press).

Entertaining show. Was concerned that it would be too broad language and incomprehensible but I need not have worried. Great venue and worth a look.

3 words GO TO IT. Venue just over 1/2 full...why? Seen lots at festival- would put this near top. Interacted with audience spontaneously and very funny. Topical . ... and dating back to Burn's time. SPOILER- ''dram'' is NOT cold tea!!

Robert Burns wakes up hungover among empty bottles. He’s the real Rabbie, even though he talks about Brexit in Theatre Objektiv’s hilarious Burns for Breakfast at the Scottish Storytelling Centre. After a while, he realises he should have tidied up, as he had invited us for brunch and then forgotten...
