Description
Ignored for centuries by a misogynistic patriarchy, it is now time to reclaim their place. Showcasing works by 26 female classical composers from all walks of life. They might have been Queer, Black, disabled, Jewish, migrants, wives, mothers, spinsters, carers, freelancers, employees, teachers, performers, aristocrats, commoners, European, American, young or old; but they have one thing in common: all were ignored, usurped and push out of the musical canon by men. This one-song-per-composer recital introduces a wide variety of works from from 16th to 21st century. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. An absolute gem! An incredibly talented singer who performs each piece with poise, grace, and emotion. I loved that the set list is chosen randomly by the audience; it made for an exciting choose-your-own-adventure feel to the evening. Before each piece Tamara introduces the overlooked creator, and deftly sets the scene by translating lyrics and recounting plot and interpretations. It was truly a pleasure to get to speak with Tamara after the show ended: she is passionate, knowledgeable, interesting, and warm. Definitely one of the finest shows at the Fringe this year, and one of the most superb artists!

The singer was really friendly and very kindly gave introductions the the songs before she performed each of them. The main purpose of the show, which was to credit and raise awareness to all the female composers who were overlooked, was indeed meaningful. Impressive vocals and a beautiful short show overall!

I had the privilege of attending a mesmerizing hour-long performance this evening. Her performance left me in awe, as her voice effortlessly traversed the intricate coloratura passages, showcasing impeccable agility and control. Her rich timbre and resonant vocal quality imbued each aria with profound emotional depth, eliciting both joy and introspection. The singer's remarkable breath support and exquisite phrasing were evident in every note, creating an immersive and enchanting experience. Her masterful interpretation of the repertoire, coupled with her impeccable vocal technique, truly highlighted her status as a virtuosa of the operatic stage. It was an evening of sheer artistry and vocal prowess that will leave me a night to remember.
