Description

BBC is the debut show from British-born Chinese comedian Matthew Fong. His politically incorrect view on love, life and growing up is far from political. A whimsical comedian that has found his voice and is making the most of it. He has performed all over the world including Las Vegas, Tampa, Orlando, Sunny Beach, Los Gigantes and a regular on the UK comedy circuit; this is one comedian you won’t want to miss. This being his debut one-man show gives you the opportunity to say I found him first... before he was famous. Must see!

Honestly...it was okay. Matthew being half chinese seems to be the main focus of his standup - however it just felt like a prop and not part of him - he goes through what feels like the cringiest checklist of bad asian jokes - The asian father stereotype, the mocking of the chinese language (with his wan king joke) and somehow throwing in a small penis joke here and there. It felt very impersonal and cliche and a lot of comedy is self deprecating but it felt more like he was using his half chinese-ness to unfunnily mock asians than himself. I think he has potential but I hope he spends some time writing better content.

5 Star *****

Great funny storytelling with perfect comedy timing. Complete respect for the craft and has clearly spent years mastering it.

Go early, we missed it once as it was sold out.

Half British half Chinese, all comedy.

Had such a fun night at this after going on a whim. Great comic, perfect delivery, lots of laughs. Was sat near a British-Chinese family and they had a fab night too. Taps into the differences between cultures and takes you on a great journey. Recommend for a really funny night out.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fifty minutes of slick self-assured stand-up which had the audience (the venue was full) laughing nearly constantly. And a funny song at the end. He dealt nicely with the audience including skilfully putting a heckler in his place. He has a big future so see him now before he is famous.
