Description
Bang is a monologue delivered by the apparition of Joan Vollmer, immediately after she was shot by William Burroughs, her common-law husband, in Mexico City in 1951. As she waits for the ambulance to arrive, she reflects on her relationship with the famous writer, on the passionate nucleus that launched the Beat movement, and on a murder in that close-knit group of artists, presaging her own death. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. I watched this show in the first week of Edinburgh Festival and it’s still in my thoughts. I found the performance captivating and emotive. I loved how this story was told from Vollmer’s point of view, a perspective often missed.. which could be said for many women in history. This show is Definitely worth a watch.

Bang! A gripping true story told with a depth of knowledge about these complex characters and events, and with skill and with suspense. Great play writing. An intimate staging. Go see it!

The story about Vollmer was really interesting but something else really bothered me. I might be wrong but the actress seemed to be an amateur. Which is nothing to be ashamed of, but I think if that is the case it should be stated. Then there wouldn't be disappointment but more respect. Sorry, just my two cents.

Well-acted, well-written, and engaging! I'd like to see it again after the actors have run through it for many days in a row and gotten more comfortable with it. FOUR STARS!
