A woman, a warrior, a Chinese legend – Michelle Yim (The Empress and Me) brings to life the real Mulan who, to save her family's honour, disguised herself as a man and joined the emperors army. For ten long years she marched with them, fought with them, became a general, a hero, but just how did her true identity remain secret? We shall find out. 'Yim is a winning performer' (Stage, on The Empress And Me). 'Strong, polished and confident' **** (The Adelaide Theatre Guide, on The Empress and Me).

After 19 days at the Fringe, this is my favorite piece of storytelling so far. Excellent adaptation from a poem based on true events. Evocative and entertaining, plus great acting and staging, . Highly recommend.

Incredible one woman storytelling of the “true” story and thoughts of Mulan a woman general in the ancient Chinese army. Michelle Yim is amazing!

Very nice work. The actress, alone on the stage, plays and narrates the life of Mulan, going back and forth between different stages of her life. The writing was especially solid, full of vivid details on the life of a Chinese soldier of this era.

What a talent! Such a well delivered performance. So engaging, we felt the battle around us, and harsh reality of the difficult life Mulan felt compelled to live was so well portrayed. Huge well done.

Mulan is a classic tale, it's certainly one of my favourite Disney films and it’s a great exploration of Chinese culture.
