Description

With original evocative songs, Avocet explore folk over blues. Iona Zajac (vocals, clarsach), Sam Grassie (guitar), Herbie Loening (double-bass). The group released their debut EP (Mink Records), recorded at the Abbey Road Institute in Amsterdam in May 2018, and their music has received critical acclaim from Folk Radio UK and BBC Scotland. Following their win at the Danny Kyle competition (Celtic Connections 2017), Avocet notably opened for Ralph McTell at the City Halls, Glasgow who commented, 'some of my closest friends were in Pentangle and a comparison is not out of place... a very special group'.
