Description

Rowan is a geospatial engineer earning good money, and Nic is a freelance illustrator who is... not. They meet on a commission for TFL and hit it off. Mostly. But when Rowan takes a job in autonomous vehicle design, Nic's lefty principles and outspoken technophobia must take a back seat, and the tensions in their relationship begin to pick up speed. Gripping new play about class, power and self-driving cars from Olivier-nominated writer Ben Norris, Autopilot is a deeply modern love story that asks – in the event of a head-on collision – who are we programmed to save?

Beautifully written play that cleverly captures the anxiety and reassurance of existential dread in a capitalist society. Made me laugh out loud and left me in tears at the end. A really wonderful piece of work, go and catch it while you're here!

This show is certainly worth seeing - it’s funny, thought provoking and well acted. Didn’t always get why we had to skip about in time so much- not difficult to follow but for me it was one reason why content although various didn’t quite go deep enough.,

Captivating piece more about relationships and social class than AI. The two actors were brilliant delivering a high paced dialogue that was intriguing and engaging. A non linear story to be discovered. A play that kept me thinking about it long after the show ended.

What an incredibly relatable piece of new writing. Both performers shine under brilliant direction and dynamic writing that says a lot (without saying it outright) and is peppered with warmth and humour. Definitely one of the strongest pieces of theatre to catch this fringe.

Autopilot is a hard-hitting contemporary love story with a superbly well-constructed concept behind it, and if you were to ask Alexa for a gripping new play to watch at Edinburgh Fringe, Autopilot would surely be the response.
