Description

Growing up with a mother with schizophrenia and a grandmother who stole from buffets and fed her false realities, Atsuko is now stunted as an adult. But when confronted with a home intruder, she realises that her unconventional upbringing may have actually prepared her for just this moment. Atsuko made her late-night stand-up debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2021. She was named a Comic to Watch by Vulture ('one of the best in the biz') and TimeOut LA ('Refreshing, artistic, and boundlessly confident').

Great stand-up - hilarious and under-stated, gently draws you into the story and keeps you laughing throughout. A real highlight, definitely worth seeing.

I came in a bit late and missed a bit of the beginning (double check early where Bunker at Pleasance is for fellow newbies!) But I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt in good hands with Atsuko's storytelling. Totally related as well to my own parents and it was so funny. Highly recommend!

She’s already sold this hour to HBO, which she’ll film at a later date after the Fringe. So you might want to catch her now so you can say you saw her when. When meaning now.
