Description

Life's getting a bit serious innit? Political instability, social politics making people less social – life now is guilt, followed by shame. However, what is life, if nothing but a distraction until you die? Archie Maddocks tackles the struggles of being alive in his latest hour of provocative, exhilarating and, crucially, hilarious comedy. 'Superb timing and quick wit' ***** (RadioHaHa.co.uk). Daily Mirror's Funniest Jokes and Evening Standard’s Best Jokes of the Fringe 2018. ‘A real highlight of the evening’ (BBC Radio 4 Extra). ‘Super cool, super smart storyteller’ (Bruce Dessau, BeyondTheJoke.co.uk and Evening Standard).

Archie Maddox is a great comedian and his show is filled with laughs However the content of what he talks about is serious and important to think about. He deals with racism on every level, and the sexism and prejudice that controls our behavior. He makes fun of the very world we live in. "Society is founded on lies," he says. "Life is so fragile we just don't give a damn. " And that is the point. After listeing to Maddox make fun of the world as it is, we leave his show wanting to do something about it, We see people and society in a whole new light. It is this ability that makes Maddox a comedic genius We laugh for an hour and then when we leave his show we realise we have been taught a lot about the advantages of being open minded. AND we see how bigoted our won behavior has been. when we actually thought we were liberal human beings. What a surprise.

In all the years I have been to the Fringe, this show is genuinely one of my absolute favourites ever! Archie was hilarious and interacted with the crowd brilliantly, including myself, which was extremely well received. Able to talk about some very sensitive subjects and make it so funny that I and others were in tears. You MUST see him, I will be looking for him next year!!!

Can wholeheartedly recommend, very funny bloke. Bit of something for everyone - get yourself along.
First rule of comedy for me is I've got to like them as a person and this blokes warmth shines through.

I don’t think it’s possible to watch Archie perform and not have a great time. His charismatic energy is enough to win over the audience, before they’ve even had a chance to sit down.
