Description
Welcome into the meandering mind of a South-Indian somebody who could be anybody. Blimp is a stand-up show about a woman filmmaker's view of the world as she attempts to survive between the words action and cut. A comic tale of a full-time mom with part-time attempts at sanity, sewing and show business. Unlearning her lessons as an engineer, when all she had to do was stick forks in toasters, Anu describes her great adventures and paints a nomadic picture of the life and times of a comedian, filmmaker and sometime triathlete. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Anu put on a great show, which kept our family glued to their seats the entire time. It's funny, with a great mix about life & global cultures. Clean cut & easy to follow. Would definitely recommend.

I am from Scotland and my daughter-in-law is Tamil. We went to this show after watching Anu on the BBC and watching her debut hour, BC:AD last year. Her new show, Blimp, was an incredibly funny hour, hitting home with audiences from across the globe. I could see the mix of countries, experiences and cultures in the demographic her material speaks to.
Being a writer, I was very appreciative of the well-crafted jokes, the call backs to various gems that were laid out carefully in the one hour piece. Also, the work is very feminist. She questions the commonly accepted knowledge and norms and urges us all to think about how to position ourselves as women and how we then talk to our daughters. I was very moved and so happy to share this experience where I was left in splits, as was my grand-daughter, daughter-in-law and our husbands. Kudos to the artist for coming all the way and persevering with a young family at hand.

Was recommended to go and watch this. Throughly enjoyed her wit and humour, even as a Punjabi, and would recommend to people to go and see her.
A bigger room with more air has to be on the agenda for future shows, so give her some recognition, Edinburgh Fringe.

An unexpected gem found on the off chance by talking to the act, Anu, during one of the many sojourns up the Assembly way paths.
Her well spoken manner was one thing but for it to translate to her show was another. Chock full of hilarious connotations about certain states and people in India (one of whom she married!) along with her journey across the world, Anu's show is a refreshing antidote to the "normal comedy" one would expect to see at such events.
Her unabashed manner makes her whole act that much better and means she should (hopefully) become a Fringe regular in years to come.
Definitely worth your time to go and see her perform!

Anu tells a woman's story, a travelers story, a mothers story, the human story with humor. She never loses the spice of her south Indian origins but never loses the universality of the human experience. She shows how we chose to tell our stories. We can laugh or cry as we look at our lives. She chooses to laugh and have us all laugh with her. Loved it.

This was my favourite show at fringe this year. Clever, witty and interesting. I would have sat there all day. She needs a bigger venue and a bar in the room so next time I can listen for a couple of hours. I would take my daughter and my fairly sensitive mother and they would both love it. If she isn’t their next year I’m taking legal action!!!
