  • Policy applies to: Children under 18 months

Description

After 20 years on the circuit, Alexis Dubus, easily one of the comedians of his generation, is ready to deliver the greatest 3-star comedy experience ever staged. Don't miss this explosively average show from a multi award-nominated performer truly at the middle of his game. As seen as a waiter in Derek (Channel 4), an idiot in Nathan Barley (Channel 4) and 3 of 63 in Red Dwarf XI (Dave). 'Can write some strong lines... sometimes excellent... amusing' *** (Chortle.co.uk). 'Too clever' *** (List). 'Puts the audience almost too much at ease... begins well' *** (BroadwayBaby.com).

When Superman puts on the glasses, he’s Clark Kent. When comedy cabaret character Marcel Lucont loses his acerbic condescending eyebrow he becomes the creator, Alexis Dubus.

8 years since he’s appeared at the fringe as himself. In those 8 years, he’s become a husband and a father. He’s reflected on the currency of the fringe and that is STARS and those who have the power to deliver them. It’s true we don’t often even seek the credentials of a reviewer in their opinion not to mention the publications that pop up for the fringe just like the venues they appear in.

He promises to deliver a 3 star show but forgets he’s really rather clever, with a hilarious slideshow sidekick, an excellent short but rousing opening song and a lot of love for his wife and children and his new life as a grown up.

Totally clever, gorgeously warm and an excellent start to my 2023 experience.

An excellent show - my only disappointment is that the run has finished so I can't encourage others to go!

Am incredibly sorry to say, Alexis has absolutely failed to hit the mark, having promised a 3-star show, but delivering a 5-star show. Absolutely disappointing, please do worse next time, I was promised less.

Does what it says on the tin, a solid three star show.
Seriously though, a very funny and well crafted show.

"Falls comfortably within the comedy bell curve."

(actually very good - go see!)

Just to throw a spanner into the works, it has to be said that this is at least a 4-star show, no matter how hard Alexis tries to straddle the EdFringe starcluster midway, and that the shows EdFringe description maintains that he is a “performer truly at the middle of his game”.

This show’s a relief, not least because he bashes through some of the bollix of it all. Which should be worth four or five stars, but no-one wants to disappoint an artist, so…

This is the perfect three star show. It gets its three stars for all the right reasons. It is clever, engaging, personal and confidently gentle.
