Description

Fiddle melodies inspired Burns across his life. He learned tunes from his native Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire, found others on his Scottish travels, and picked them up from published collections, including those by famous fiddlers Niel Gow and William Marshall. These concerts combine the outstanding talents of leading contemporary fiddler Alastair Savage alongside Gregor Blamey (piano/accordion) and Ewan Robertson (whistle/flute), with legendary actor John Shedden letting us hear what Burns had to say about these tunes in his song notes, tour journals, commonplace books and letters. 'Music in the moment' (Herald). 'Superlative musicianship' (BrightYoungFolk.com).
