General venue access

This is an outdoor, site-specific performance in a woodland area with good paths to our performance location and accessible facilities. The toilet facilities are approximately 7 minutes from the performance location. Grid Iron Front of House staff will be visible around site from 15 minutes before each performance to assist however should you have any specific needs or worries please contact Judith on 07855 841 545 prior to booking your ticket so she can more fully describe the surroundings.

If you have access requirements please only enter Newhailes House and Gardens from Newhailes Road. The performance location is outdoors, in the woodland area of Newhailes Estate, near the Shell Grotto. It is approximately 10 minutes from the carpark and 5 minutes from the Cafe/toilet complex along a fairly level compact path. You will encounter a manual gate and a slight slope down to the performance location.

Accessible entry: After you have come along the path from the cafe/toilet complex, though the manual gate and past the Shell Grotto, Front of House staff will guide you to the best path to the performance location. The performance location is approximately 7 minutes from the cafe/toilet complex and is down a gentle slope to a woodland clearing under a canopy of trees. While the paths are not surfaced they are generally hard and should provide no difficulties for wheelchair users. They are quite level for anyone with other access requirements but in some places the ground slopes away from the path so caution should be exercised by the visually impaired. Newhailes is a popular area for dog-walking so you should expect to encounter dogs along the path to the space.

Description

Just 6 miles from Edinburgh city centre, beautiful Newhailes House is a National Trust for Scotland property which nestles in acres of peaceful woodland and parkland. Dating to the 17th century, this Palladian-style house enjoys over 300 years of history. The grounds offer wonderful walks after which you can find sustenance at our Café or Coffee Shop while your little ones visit Weehailes Playpark.
