Audiences can attend a wide range of Fringe shows both in person and online, via scheduled online performances and on-demand digital shows.

In-person shows

In-person shows take place at venues across Edinburgh, with the potential for both indoor and outdoor performances.

For information about visiting and getting around Edinburgh take a look at our visitor experience guide.

Is my show sold out?

The Fringe Box Office is allocated a percentage of tickets to sell on behalf of each show, which varies between shows and venues. When a show is listed as having 'no ticket allocation remaining', this means our allocation has sold out; however, it's always worth checking with the venue in case they have their own allocation.

Venues can also allocate additional tickets to the Fringe Box Office – for example if restrictions around venue capacity are relaxed and more seats become available – so it's also worth checking back now and then to see if a show has any more tickets available.

Online shows

There are two kinds of online events at the Fringe: scheduled and on demand.

  • Scheduled shows: Audiences buy tickets as they would to a traditional in-person event. Shows have a dedicated start and end time and are treated as ‘appointment to view’ events.
  • On-demand shows: Audiences buy tickets to watch at their leisure. Some online shows have a viewing window (where the show is available to watch for a set amount of time).

Detailed information about how to view each individual online event is available at the point of booking.

Online platforms:
Online shows take place on a range of different platforms such as Zoom, YouTube and Vimeo. Information on how to access these is provided at the point of purchase.

Online shows are available to watch from August but can be pre-booked once their listing is published on edfringe.com.
