I had to let this show sit for a few days. I wasn’t sure if it was just me but I see now it wasn’t.
It was a bit upsetting, especially with a child involved. I thought it was just me but I felt uncomfortable, maybe it’s the Mom in me but I don’t feel comfortable laughing at someone who looks like they’re seeking revenge at other people’s expenses like that. I thought it was disrespectful more than it was funny.

There should be a rule that only people that attend the show can write a review, because there is no way that half the reviews are for the same show I saw.
I keep seeing over and over again the same sort of review that this show is all about "vengeance" and "airing dirty laundry". It was so much more than that it was great crowd work, quirky moments and solid story telling that made you both laugh and feel teary.

This show is Michelle’ Wild Ride through a perfectly horrible breakup, loss of a child and a start at a new life. It’s a laugh out loud nightmare as Michelle tells it.
I’m not sure what those who wrote less-than-glowing reviews thought they saw…maybe expected a redemption story and happy ending. Personally I saw a happy ending, a forceful, bright and hilarious woman who reclaimed her life from the landfill where a classic cad left her. Wish I’d known this story some decades ago when the-then “love of my life” ripped my heart out. But then, it hadn’t happened yet. Sorry it had to happen, but my god, this woman makes it double-over laughing funny. Thanks, Michelle. Can’t wait to catch you in Barcelona!

I felt very uncomfortable through the show.

A heartfelt, raw and vulnerable story about loss and finding support in the most unlikely situation! An emotional roller coaster which had me laughing and crying in equal measure. Super talented storyteller with great crowd work, comedic timing and audience participation - Graham was an absolute legend!

I loved this show! Heartbreaking story told with a tonne of humour. Definitely one of my favourites of this festival. It can't be easy pulling off such a personal story with such vulnerability. Part of me thinks maybe the negative reviews are from a certain cheating ex…

I’m not one to write negative reviews but I had to after seeeing this show. It just made me feel sad, it was so disrespectful. Seasons can end in life without denigrating everything that happened in them.
I hope you are able to let go one day and look forward without so much vengeance in your heart.
I didn’t enjoy the show for these reasons, I’m sorry, it just wasn’t for me.

Prefer my comedy without getting dragged into a mud slinging dirty breakup divorce thanks very much. I feel sad for the kid.
Do not recommend .

I haven’t found sock puppets funny since 3rd form but hey.
I didn’t like the shade throwing or the vengefulness, I prefer a good clean laugh with my comedy. Bad vibes in the end.

Engaging, a bit eccentric and exuding warmth by the ladleful- well worth an hour of anyone's time.

This was a rollercoaster of a show. Started of light, dove into a story of heartbreak and had me in tears both of laughter and crying. Not sure where some reviewers see “cringe and suggestive dancing”, probably another show. Michelle’s story is captivating and shows her vulnerable side. I connected with it on many levels. A must see!

I came to see the show twice it was so good. It’s an incredible true story that is both hilarious and absolutely heartbreaking. The emotion is real and the journey is so inspiring, I cannot recommend it enough. My favourite of the fringe!

Heavily traumatised? Not sure what I was imagining but it’s just a divorce ?! So half the worlds heavily traumatised then ?! thought the story lacked a bit of depth or interest like she just positions herself as a hero and like the old chap and everyone else is all to blame. Anyone who’s ever been divorced knows that’s never how the cookie crumbles. Sock puppets were a bit odd too. Anyhoo wish you all the best with it though.

I loved this show. Michelle is such an authentic, funny story-teller that I laughed and cried along with her as she told us the heart-breaking but uplifting story of the last 2 years of her life. Go see it for yourself!

I was not a fan of this show. Lots of shade thrown in a bit of a vengeful way, I prefer looking on the bright side of life myself so I didn’t fully engage with the story. Sorry.

Some people were laughing in the audience but I didn’t really find it the show that funny. I would say it was overtly sexual for no real reason and I felt a bit uncomfortable with it all.

She was dealt lemons but made Sangria! It’s a finely tuned balance of comedy and tragedy and an inspiring act of becoming the author of your story instead of a character in someone else's. My favorite part was watching the audience transition so quickly from laughter to silence to sniffles then back to laughter. I’ve seen it twice and would see it again.

I loved it! The show demonstrates how a highly traumatic experience can be turned on something ridiculously fun and yet deeply charged on emotions. It will make you laugh, and cry. Respect for this act!

Not my vibe.

I don’t know what the other reviews are talking about… they clearly didn’t watch the show.
It was absolutely awesome, a rollercoaster of raw emotion, genuine joy and laughter. Barbara will always be in my heart. I genuinely haven’t laughed so much at a show before with raw honesty, openness and joy. Her sheer talent at telling captivating and funny stories is inspiring. She’s an amazing performer and I feel so lucky to have seen her! A gorgeous person and genuine soul. Thanks for an amazing show and being an amazing person. Genuinely these other reviewers can’t have seen the show!

I tend to agree about the aired dirty laundry I felt nose deep in dirty underwear and not in a good way.
moments were funny but I left feeling a bit ick. poor fellow.
Kelsey M 126 days ago
A pretty ruthless takedown of her husband, I felt bad for the poor guy in the end. Mostly I felt uncomfortable, like she was using the audience as part of a revenge plot. I felt awkward and uncomfortable like being dragged into someone’s dirty laundry when I just wanted a laugh.

Michelle is simultaneously authentic, vulnerable, and HILARIOUS in this wildly entertaining hour. The story itself is crazy and her telling of it is even better. She had the audience engaged from start to finish with her sharp jokes and punchy delivery.
Highly recommend for anyone!

I wanted to love this show but I couldn't quite get there. Stripper dancing and sock puppets were a bit of an odd, cringe combination, it didn't quite hit the mark. A very outgoing lady. Good luck with it all.

Maybe this touches a nerve with me hey but just another middle age woman who left her husband and took his money and is now badmouthing him around town on his dime. I did not enjoy the content or explicitness of this show but maybe thats just me.

Totally engrossing. I was along for the ride the whole time and experienced both elation and pathos in equal measure. The story will have you shifting and twitching throughout, with only the manifold laughs for company. This kind of show doesn't work unless it's totally authentic, which it unquestionably is. If charm, wit and likeability were Olympic sports, Michelle would be a triple gold winner.

Great hour of comedy! Not your usual standup show but had me engaged throughout the entire story. Audience were laughing at the start and in tears by the end. Fantastic show. Don't throw away your shot!

Michelle is truly vulnerable in this hour - I asked her after the show if it was true and at least 99% of it was (except for that she had to change some names). She's an adept storyteller with a likeable charm, and for anyone who wants to support an up-and-coming comic, this is fantastic show to see.

Infectious energy on stage and an inspiring story about how to pick up your life after a devastating break-up. Having been through a rough divorce myself and then having to basically reinvent myself in my 40s, I really connected with Michelle's experience. A compelling and entertaining story from an incredibly likeable performer.
Mark L 127 days ago
Not my cup of tea. Very unnecessary crass and vulgar… be prepared for a lot of very suggestive dancing. I was a bit taken back.
Iain A 128 days ago
A brilliant show about a really harrowing time in her life not that long ago. It starts much like a regular standup show with crowd work and big laughs before taking us through the story of the last few years of her life. We laughed, cried and cheered all the way along with Michelle. A brave story to tell and a great message that we can all get through difficult times with a smile on our face and sock puppet on our hands. Go see this show!
