Description
Bristol-bred, Barcelona-based Alec Snook is decomposing, live. Join him for his debut solo show, a joyous journey into general decline through short tales, absurdist detours and outraged storytelling. Having performed in the UK, Europe, festivals in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and reaching the final of the Barcelona International Comedy Festival in 2022, Snook's topics swing as wildly as his mental state, covering themes such as loss, colour-blindness, narrowboat tragedies and the crushing weight of representing the bald community. Expressed as an equation, Snook is: whimsy x wordplay ÷ dark absurdity - integrity. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Such an incredible show, Alec’s comedy is both out-there but somehow incredibly relatable and flat-out hilarious. He just won second best joke at the fringe, believe the hype, and get tickets early because it will sell out

First time at the Fringe and this was the first show we went to see. I didn’t really know what to expect but it was exactly what I enjoy. Storytelling, surreal moments, one liners, word play all tied together around a theme. I’d definitely try and catch him again and heartedly recommend the show.

Alec Snook’s Decomposing Live wakes you up like a wet corpse slapping you around the face. The only Fringe show offering a lunchtime serving of breezy bestiality and a threat of amicable violence, Snook navigates (necrogates?) online dating ‘Tinder: like a jam jar full of fox piss you can’t get the lid back on”, ratings for funerals (his mum’s coming second only to Princess Di’s on ecstasy) and the art of self-deprecation (comparing himself to Moby’s exhumed cadaver). This brine-infused exquisite corpse, with its surreal moments scattered on top, is not to be missed.

Alec (not Alex!!) is a hidden gem and exactly the kind of so far undiscovered talent the Fringe should be about. Laughed out loud multiple times at his material and his delivery. In such an intimate room he built rapport with the audience very easily with wit, charm and humility. The show has an uplifting message that comes through the material without slapping you in the face with it. Highly recommend.
