Description
A transatlantic middle-aged Jewish atheist divorcee walks into a bar... Forced to choose between a show about identity and one about her dead dad, Leslie chose both. In her debut stand-up hour, Gold (as seen at the Comedy Store) delivers batshit family drama, bold storytelling and one or more really good rants. 'Savvy comedy chops' (EdFringeReview.com). 'An assured performer with charm, charisma and very relatable' (Esther Manito). 'Massive laughs in a small package. One of my faves!' (Jordan Gray). Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. This was the first show I saw at this year’s fringe and I returned to it later in my trip. It is an impressive show for a solo debut. The narrative flows effortlessly as we get to know Leslie, along with members of her family, and other characters.
The storytelling is captivating throughout, questioning, moving, irreverent , spicy, but most importantly, very funny.
There are serious and poignant moments but Leslie has artfully peppered this show with appropriate laughs - be they chuckles, snorts, or belly-laughs - ensuring that you are never in doubt you are watching a comedy show, not always the case with long-form comedy.
I highly recommend this show!

We met Leslie when she was handing out flyers. We instantly clicked. She has a great energy and we had a little chat.
We went to her show the next day. I cannot believe this was her first stand-up gig. She's a natural. Really humourous.
I would absolutely see her again!

A fun hour of gaining insight into who Leslie is and where she came from. The memories of her family mixed with her experiences and some sentimental moments, all punctuated by consistent punchlines, made for an hour of laughter for everyone!

An insightful and hilarious tour around what makes Leslie who she is, with tales of family drama along the way. A very accomplished comic, it’s hard to believe that this is her debut hour. Go see it

What a fabulous show: intelligent, engaging and at times even uncomfortable but so meticulously planned down to the last cup, whilst effortlessly natural. An accomplished debut. Thank you for the only show I didn't pay for and the best!

Great seeing Leslie live at the Fringe in her first solo show. She's an engaging, witty, pertinent storyteller, who catered brilliantly for our group from India and New Zealand. We saw other up and coming comedians, but A Chip off the Gold block was the winner.
All the best for the rest of the run at Upstairs, Bar 50

Comedy GOLD!
A "must see" at this year's Festival.
A hilarious and hugely entertaining hour in the company of the lovely Ms Gold who engages so easily with the audience that it's more like being at a party with friends than attending a show!
Great venue as well for food, drink & picking up your next show

I went to see Leslie's show mainly because the mention of comedy + identity piqued my curiosity. Well, I have to say it did not disappoint! It is funny and thanks to Leslie's warm personailty, she made me (us?) feel like she was a friend giving a hilarious insight into her, her family, her observations on US vs UK. Go for GOLD!

I caught the London preview. Leslie’s show is thoroughly entertaining and so relatable! Do not miss this one, you’ll be proud to say you saw her before she was famous!

Do not miss this show at Fringe. I caught the preview in London and was so impressed by how fast-paced, relatable and well structured it is. Anyone who has visited or lived somewhere far from "home" and had any moment of family drama will get a real kick out of the way Leslie gives you a glimpse into her life to now.

I was fortunate enough to see Leslie's preview before Fringe - it's an upbeat, "doesn't take herself too seriously" type of show about identity, loss, and family drama. Her comedic timing and humour shine through, delivering a show that's entertaining and full of personality. Her warmth and connection with the audience is obvious - sometimes making it feel like you're having a lively dinner with your funny friend. For anyone looking to support a talented performer and have a good laugh, her show is definitely worth checking out!

Smart, relatable and so, so funny! I really enjoyed this window into life in New Jersey and Leslie’s stories about family and her father, in particular. Told with warmth and wit, don’t miss it!
